Free MC Boot should take you to the main menu screen like normal, but there should be extra options at the bottom. Is there a Free MC Boot logo at the start? Try swapping memory card slots, maybe it's configured to look for a specific memory card slot rather than either. Do you have a hard drive for your PS2?

I have installed uLaunchELF already, that one works perfectly fine. HOWEVER, my problem is the following: FMCB v 1.8 doesn't work, it never even shows the "loading".
35 Location Indianapolis, IN XP 1,033 Country May 11, 2013 #1 Hey all. My PS2 doesn't load FreeMCBoot properly anymore. I didn't make any changes, but now it only seems to load FreeMCBoot in about 1 out of every 10 tries or so. Anyone else with this problem? trumpet-205 Embrace the darkness within Member Level 5 Joined Jan 14, 2009
If you are it wont work. you have to install freemcboot on the memory card with the installer for it to work. so if you have to let's say have freemcboot on 10 memory cards you would have to install it on every one.

As for using freemcboot, a standard FMCB memory card just isn't compatible with your model of ps2, so you won't be able to make that work. I've seen some people say they they've gotten freemcboot working in conjunction with their modchips on 9000 models, but you'll need to get your modchip working first to explore that.
